Guide Strip That Eliminates Metal-on-Metal Wear in Hydraulic and Pneumatic Cylinders
Kaxite Bronze-Filled PTFE Guide Strip is compounded from PTFE resin and bronze powder with phenolic cloth and pitch, then moulded and skived into rectangular strip form. The bronze filler raises compressive load capacity and thermal conductivity, while the PTFE base delivers a friction coefficient of 0.04 or below — lower than any metal guide element. The strip absorbs vibration, embeds foreign particles so they cannot score the cylinder bore, and stays dimensionally stable across the -40°C to +120°C working range. It is supplied in a full size matrix so engineers can match the exact cross-section required by their cylinder design.
Why Engineers Specify KXT PG120
Lower friction than bronze bushing or metal guide rings, which cuts heat generation, reduces seal damage and lets the cylinder run at higher reciprocating speeds without wear acceleration.
Metal chips, sand and hydraulic debris embed into the soft PTFE surface instead of scoring the cylinder bore or the piston rod. This extends both rod and seal life in dirty service.
Bronze powder raises compressive strength and thermal conductivity well beyond pure PTFE. The strip tolerates high side loads and dissipates friction heat before it reaches the sealing lip.
PTFE base chemistry resists acids, alkalis, solvents and steam — the same duty where ordinary bronze bushings corrode or seize. The strip is usable in chemical, offshore and food-industry cylinders.
The strip works dry or in marginal lubrication conditions, which is critical in food processing, medical equipment and any cylinder where oil leakage is unacceptable.
Unlike a rigid metal guide, the filled PTFE strip damps vibration and reduces noise at the rod bearing. This lowers fatigue load on the rod seals and extends service intervals.

Where KXT PG120 Guide Strip Is Used
Guides the piston and rod inside the cylinder bore, preventing metal-to-metal contact between piston and tube.
Guide strips for linear axes, tool carriages and slide bearings where low friction and long service life are required.
Wear strips for grinding heads and workpiece support slides, working under continuous reciprocating motion.
Guide elements for quill and spindle support, damping vibration and protecting the bore from chip damage.
Sliding seals, bearing rings and anti-extrusion back-up rings where PTFE with bronze filler is specified.
Where metal bushings corrode or seize, the filled PTFE strip keeps the guide function alive in chemical and offshore environments.

Frequently Asked Questions
It is a rectangular strip of filled PTFE compounded with bronze powder and phenolic reinforcement. The strip is fitted into a machined groove on a piston or rod bearing, where it guides the moving part without metal-to-metal contact and absorbs side load.
Both terms describe the same function. In hydraulic cylinders the part is usually called a wear ring; in machine tools and linear axes it is called a guide strip. KXT PG120 is supplied for both applications with the same material.
Thickness is 1.0 mm to 6.0 mm in the standard matrix, with lengths from 8 mm to 55 mm depending on thickness. Width ranges from 3.2 mm to 60 mm. Custom thickness, width and length are available on request.
The coefficient of friction is 0.04 or below, tested to the standard data sheet. The working temperature range is -40°C to +120°C. Density is 2.4 to 3.25 g/cm³ and hardness is 70 Shore D or above.
Yes. The PTFE base chemistry allows dry running in marginal lubrication conditions, which is important in food, medical and cleanroom equipment where oil leakage is unacceptable.
Standard colors are black, brown, golden and green. Color is normally used to identify the grade and filler, and custom colors can be produced for OEM orders.
Yes. Kaxite is a bronze-filled PTFE guide strip manufacturer and supplier in China, supporting wholesale orders, custom sizes, private label packing and OEM service. Quotation is normally returned within 24 hours.
Yes. Free samples of the KXT PG120 bronze-filled PTFE guide strip are offered to qualified buyers so thickness, friction behavior and surface finish can be checked before a volume order.
