V Shape Metallic Tape (Model GR104) is a precision-formed metal strip used as the winding element of spiral wound gaskets. It is supplied in three profiles — Flat, V and W — each matched to different winding densities and gasket performance requirements. The flat profile is also used for double jacketed gasket shells and gasket eyelets.
Stock materials cover carbon steel, 304/304L, 316L, 317L, 321, 347, duplex 31803, Monel 400, Titanium, Nickel 200, Incoloy 800/825 and Inconel 600/625/X750 — allowing the winding to match almost any service fluid, temperature and corrosion requirement.

Where V Shape Metallic Tape Is Used
|
Spiral Wound Gasket Winding The core application — V or W profile metallic tape is wound alternately with graphite, PTFE or non-asbestos filler to build the sealing element.

Double Jacketed Gasket Shells Flat profile tape is formed into the metal jacket that wraps the soft filler of a double jacketed gasket.
|
|
Gasket Eyelets Flat tape is also used to form the eyelet that protects the gasket bore and improves handling on installation.
|
Inner and Outer Rings Strip produced from the same material range is used to make the inner and outer rings of spiral wound gaskets.
