Product Description

Kaxite PR109 Spun Carbonized Fiber Yarn is a braided-packing yarn spun from carbonized acrylic (pre-oxidized) fiber. It has no melting point, resists most acids, alkalis, solvents and steam across the full pH 0–14 range, and works from -100°C to +260°C. Three supply options are available — plain carbonized fiber yarn, glass fiber core reinforced yarn, and PTFE impregnated yarn — and the reinforcement and impregnation can be combined where a higher-density packing is needed. The yarn is used to braid gland packing for pumps, valves and agitators and to manufacture packing rings, gaskets and high-temperature sealing cords. Wholesale quantity, custom yarn count, OEM labeling and free samples are available.

Spun Carbonized Fiber Yarn for Braided Gland Packing That Has to Survive Both Heat and Chemicals

Kaxite Spun Carbonized Fiber Yarn PR109 is spun from carbonized acrylic (pre-oxidized) fiber, with no melting point and a working temperature range of -100°C to +260°C.

The yarn resists acids, alkalis, solvents and steam across the full pH 0–14 range, and is available plain, glass fiber core reinforced, PTFE impregnated, or both.

It is used to braid gland packing for pumps, valves and agitators and to manufacture packing rings, gaskets and high-temperature sealing cords.

PR109 · CARBONIZED FIBER YARN

Three Supply Options — Pick the One That Matches the Duty

OPTION 01 Plain Carbonized Fiber Yarn

The base yarn with no reinforcement or impregnation. Soft, high strength, self-lubricating, and the most economical choice for standard gland packing and general high-temperature sealing.

OPTION 02 Glass Fiber Core Reinforced

A continuous glass fiber core is spun into the yarn to raise tensile strength and prevent the braided packing from extruding under gland load. Preferred for high-pressure pump and valve service.

OPTION 03 PTFE Impregnated

PTFE dispersion is impregnated into the yarn to lower friction, seal fibre interstices and improve chemical resistance. Chosen where shaft wear and leakage through the packing column must be minimised.

Why Braiders Choose KXT PR109

01
No melting point — the packing survives hot running

Carbonized fiber oxidizes instead of melting, so the yarn does not drip, flow or deform when a pump overheats. This is why it is preferred over polypropylene or polyester yarn in hot gland service.

02
Self-lubricating and low friction on the shaft

The carbonized surface provides inherent lubrication, so a braided packing made from this yarn runs against stainless and carbon steel shafts with reduced shaft wear and lower power consumption.

03
Full pH 0–14 chemical stability

The yarn resists acids, alkalis, solvents, steam and most process media. It is used where a general-purpose aramid or PTFE yarn would either swell, degrade or lose tensile strength.

04
Reinforcement and impregnation can be combined

For the most demanding applications — high pressure plus aggressive media plus hot running — the yarn can be supplied with both a glass fiber core and PTFE impregnation on a single order.

05
Uniform yarn count for consistent braiding

The yarn is spun to a consistent count and twist so that the braided packing comes out with even density, uniform square cross-section and predictable gland compression.

06
Factory direct with sample and OEM support

As a China-based spun carbonized fiber yarn manufacturer, Kaxite supports wholesale orders, custom yarn count, private label packing, TDS download and free samples for braiding trials.

Where KXT PR109 Is Used

Braided gland packing for pumps

Braided into square and rectangular gland packing for centrifugal and reciprocating pumps handling hot water, solvents, oils and mildly aggressive chemicals.

Valve stem packing

Braided into stem packing for gate, globe and control valves where the packing column must resist heat, chemical attack and repeated stem cycling without hardening.

Agitator and mixer shafts

Used in gland packing for reactor agitators, mixers and stirrers where the packing line is hot and the shaft runs with slight run-out.

High-temperature sealing cord

Twisted or served into sealing cord for furnace doors, boiler access ports and kiln seals where a flexible, heat-resistant cord is required.

Packing rings and gaskets

Braided and formed into die-made packing rings and high-temperature gaskets for heat exchangers, expansion joints and process equipment.

Packing yarn for third-party braiders

Supplied in bulk to independent braiding workshops and OEM packing manufacturers who braid their own gland packing for resale.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Spun Carbonized Fiber Yarn?

It is a yarn spun from carbonized acrylic (pre-oxidized) fiber, used as the base material for braided gland packing. Unlike aramid or polyester yarn, the carbonized fibre has no melting point, so the packing resists heat damage instead of dripping or deforming at high gland temperatures.

What is the difference between the three supply options?

Plain yarn is the base spun carbonized fiber yarn. Glass fiber core reinforced yarn has a continuous glass fiber filament spun into the core to raise tensile strength and resist extrusion. PTFE impregnated yarn has a PTFE dispersion soaked into the yarn to lower friction and seal the fibre interstices. Both reinforcement and impregnation can be combined on a single order.

What is the working temperature and pH range?

Working temperature is -100°C to +260°C. The pH range is 0–14, which covers the full acid-to-alkali spectrum. The yarn also resists solvents and steam, so it can be used across chemical and petrochemical duties.

Is the yarn self-lubricating?

Yes. The carbonized surface provides inherent lubricity, so a braided packing made from this yarn runs on stainless and carbon steel shafts with reduced shaft wear and lower power consumption. It can also run dry in marginal lubrication conditions.

What yarn counts are available?

Yarn count, twist and ply are customised to the customer's braiding specification. Send us the target packing size and braiding pattern and we will recommend a matching yarn count and confirm the sample before a volume order.

Can you supply yarn for our own braiding operation?

Yes. Kaxite supplies PR109 yarn in bulk to independent braiding workshops and OEM packing manufacturers who braid their own gland packing for resale. Bulk spool and cone packing is available with private label.

Can I order in wholesale quantity with OEM packing?

Yes. Kaxite is a spun carbonized fiber yarn manufacturer and supplier in China, supporting wholesale orders, custom yarn count, private label packing and OEM service. Quotation is normally returned within 24 hours.

Can I get a free sample before ordering?

Yes. Free samples of the KXT PR109 spun carbonized fiber yarn are offered to qualified buyers so the yarn count, softness, tensile feel and braiding behaviour can be checked before a volume order.
