Solid Copper Gasket – OFHC Copper Sealing Ring for UHV/CF Flanges, Oil Lines and Hydraulic Fittings | Model KXT 1200

Solid Copper Gasket (Model KXT 1200) is a solid metal sealing ring machined from high-purity copper sheet. It is a single-use gasket for ultra-high vacuum CF flanges: the knife edges of the mating flanges bite into the soft copper as the bolts are torqued down, forming a permanent, impermeable metal-to-metal seal. Unlike elastomer gaskets, there is nothing to outgas, nothing to age, and nothing to fail under thermal cycling.

The same material also serves as a copper washer for oil lines, oil drains, hydraulic fittings, automotive accessories, industrial machinery and agricultural machinery — where high conductivity and reliable compression sealing are required.

How a Solid Copper Gasket Seals

1	Copper is softer than the flange steel The knife edge of the UHV/CF flange is much harder than the copper ring, so under bolt load the copper deforms first.
2	The knife edge bites into the copper As bolts are tightened, the steel knife edge penetrates the copper surface, creating a continuous metal-to-metal contact line around the entire flange bore.
3	Result: a leak-tight, outgas-free seal No elastomer to outgas, no polymer to age, no adhesive to fail. The seal is purely metallic and stays leak-tight through bakeout cycles and thermal shock.
