What is a ring joint gasket?

A ring joint gasket is a specialized type of gasket used in high-pressure and high-temperature applications. It's a metallic ring with a specific cross-sectional profile (either oval or octagonal) designed to fit into grooves machined into the mating flange faces.

Key characteristics of ring joint gaskets:

High-pressure and temperature resistance: They can withstand extreme conditions where other gasket types would fail.

Reliable sealing: The unique design provides a secure seal even under high pressure.

Reusability: Unlike some other gasket types, ring joint gaskets can often be reused after inspection.

Precise dimensions: The gasket must fit perfectly into the groove for optimal performance.

Common applications:

Oil and gas industry

Chemical processing

Power generation

Pharmaceutical manufacturing
